Landmark builds hardscapes in Charlotte: bluestone and natural stone patios, retaining walls, fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, and paver driveways. Clay and slope are hard on all of it, so we build the drainage in from the start, and we fix standing water and erosion on their own too. That's why our work is still standing years later.
A beautiful patio on a bad base heaves. A retaining wall without drainage behind it leans. We've rebuilt enough of other people's work to know the order matters.
We walk the property with you and settle what it needs to hold up: the patio, the wall, the kitchen, the fireplace. Materials named for what they are — bluestone, Techo-Bloc, Belgard, Savannah brick — not "premium pavers."
Every project starts with how water enters and exits your property. We walk it after a rain, then set French drains, trench drains, or a regrade where the pitch is the problem, before any stone goes down.
Compacted base, correct joint sand, drainage behind every wall. Stone and pavers laid on a properly prepared base so they stay level and tight.
We set the fixtures on your property and leave them running for three nights. Move them, add them, cut them. Then decide.
We don't mow, and we don't do everything. Our core is stone and masonry hardscape, backed by the drainage and grading that keep it standing.
Patios, retaining walls, steps, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, fire pits, walkways, and driveways in bluestone, natural stone, and Techo-Bloc or Belgard pavers.
Base prep and wall drainage on every job.
French drains, trench drains, foundation waterproofing, and regrading — the fix for the wet corner, the sliding slope, and the crawlspace that never dries.
Most systems installed in one day.
Resloping, site clearing, boulder and block walls, and the tree work that has to happen before anything else can.
The step most contractors skip.
Sod and artificial turf, planting beds, and a finish grade that makes it all sit right.
Low-voltage lighting for security, entertaining, and the parts of your property worth seeing after dark. Fixtures placed on site, live, and adjustable.
Most projects touch two or three of these. Tell us what's wrong with the yard and we'll tell you what it actually needs.
Start with a site visitA Charlotte backyard that was mostly bare clay and patchy grass. We regraded it and put in artificial turf, a bluestone walk with a brick border, stone edging, gravel and stepping stones, and fresh beds.

Landmark was founded in 2019 by Dan Hopkins after a career managing sales territories where the customer's problem was the only thing that mattered. He runs the company the same way: he walks every property, he writes every proposal, and he's on site while the work happens. Most of what we build is stone and masonry: patios, walls, kitchens, and fireplaces, with the drainage to keep them standing.
We're not the biggest outfit in Charlotte, and that's on purpose. You'll deal with the person who designed the job, not a different crew every day. And because we're the ones who'll be back if something's wrong, we'd rather build it right the first time.
Established neighborhoods with mature trees, real grade, and clay that holds water. If you're nearby and not listed, call — we probably do.
